About me

A life built around the table

I'm a home baker, menu planning mama, and kitchen design enthusiast living near the beautiful Sierras. This is the story of how I learned that the kitchen isn't just a room — it's a practice.

Portrait in the kitchen

Where it all began

I have long loved kitchens and what they represent. When we moved into our house, we could only dream of what it could be someday. It took eleven years to finally renovate it — but when we did, I got the space I had always hoped for. A kitchen, a gathering place, that brings me genuine peace and joy with its beauty, warmth, and functionality.

It was in that kitchen that I finally found the courage to do something else I had dreamt about, the art and practice of sourdough. I'd already been cooking and baking for years — but sourdough was different. It asked something of me. Patience. Attention. A willingness to fail and try again.

And while these things came about more recently, I have a two decade history with my kitchen. For me, it has always been about loving and feeding my people well, renovated or not. My appreciation of everything our kitchen has given us over the years is the foundation of Our Kitchen Cooks. A place to share what I've learned about nourishing your home from the inside out.

What I believe

Design is intentional

The best things in a kitchen — a long-fermented loaf, a thoughtful week of meals, a well designed space — require intention, not necessarily more time.

Beauty is functional

A kitchen that looks beautiful and works beautifully aren't at odds. When your space is designed for how you truly live, it becomes a joy to be in.

Nourishment is holistic

Food nourishes the body. A well-designed kitchen nourishes the heart. A thoughtful menu plan nourishes your week. All three belong together.
